CJPI Delivers Landmark Appointment for UK Pilot’s Association

Amy Leversidge has been appointed General Secretary of The British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA), following an executive search process led by CJPI. The appointment also marks a historic moment making Amy the first woman to become General Secretary of BALPA in its 86-year history.

BALPA are the professional association and registered trade union representing over 10,000 pilots and is recognised by 20 different companies; that’s over 85% of all commercial pilots flying in the UK.

The association retained CJPI to conduct an extensive and meticulous search for a dynamic leader to help steer the organisation into its next chapter. After a rigorous selection process, Amy Leversidge was selected as the successful candidate.

Rob Percival, Director of CJPI who led the dedicated team said:

Amy is currently Assistant General Secretary at the FDA, the union for managers and professionals in public service, and is a highly experienced trade unionist having previously worked at the Royal College of Midwives. Speaking of her appointment, Leversidge said:

“I am honoured to become BALPA’s General Secretary. I am looking forward to working with the excellent staff and elected reps to ensure BALPA continues to deliver real outcomes for pilots across the UK and is a strong and influential voice for the piloting profession. It is a privilege to be BALPA’s General Secretary and to make history as the first woman in this vital leadership position in the union.”

Leversidge will take up her post on 8th January 2024.
